Sasha wakes up at 6:00 a.m. She is five years old. She rises to her mermaid alarm clock and pushes the tail to stop its singing.
Getting dressed for school, Sasha puts on her favorite overalls and pink T-shirt. She brushes her hair with her pink hairbrush and gathers it into neat pigtails all by herself. Then, she brushes her teeth just like Daddy taught her, using her favorite mermaid toothbrush. Now her teeth are shiny white and her breath tastes like strawberry.
Sasha walks downstairs to find her dad baking. He is covered in flour, making Sasha giggle. Her dad notices, smiles, and waves good morning. Sasha waves back, pointing to his messy apron. Silly Daddy!
After washing her hands, Sasha gets her pink apron. Daddy sets a batch of fresh-baked muffins on the counter, washes his hands, and helps tie the strings of Sasha's apron. Sasha uses her kid-safe knife to cut fruit for breakfast: one banana, two grapefruits, and three strawberries. Daddy pours two glasses of milk, one for himself and one for Sasha. They sit together at a small table to eat. Fresh blueberry muffins taste delicious with milk and fruit.
After breakfast, Daddy packs Sasha’s lunch with a sandwich, dried fruit, dried vegetable sticks, and a bottle of homemade juice. He loves crafting items for his bakery and sharing them in Sasha’s lunchbox.
Daddy and Sasha take off their aprons and wash their hands. Sasha grabs her backpack while Daddy grabs his wagon loaded with fresh baked goods. Together, they walk to the bus stop. While they wait, Daddy hands out muffins to the other kids and parents. He even saves one for the driver. Sasha steps onto the bus and waves goodbye to Daddy, who waves back. Sasha heads off to school, and Daddy returns to his bakery.
